Accept His Freedom

Galatians 5:13 (NLT)

The best way to take action with Christ is to accept his gift of freedom. Jesus is the ultimate freedom-giver, the supreme un-shackler that allows us to finally put down all our “hurts, habits, and hang-ups,” as Pastor Rick Warren frequently says. Jesus invites us to give anything and everything that causes pain in our lives to Him once and for all. There’s a misguided saying, “Never get revenge; Just get even twice.” This saying may feel fair when you consider the people who have wronged you, but it leaves you carrying the weight of revenge and malice. Regardless of whether there is a person who embezzled you or a spouse who left you, there is no end to life events under which you could collapse under their emotional weight and say, “This just isn’t fair.” But God asks us to let go. To fully take action with Christ, you must let go and accept His freedom. How you handle your hurts, habits, and hang-ups defines how well you accept Jesus’ offer to give it all to Him and will define your relationship with God. Life is brimming over with wounded people who are dragging a ball and chain through their lives. You could be heavy, weighed down, slowed down, and left behind, but you must let it go. Allow Jesus to unshackle you and deliver freedom.
