Enough To Give His Son
Hebrews 1:3 (NLV)
“The Son shines with the shining-greatness of the Father. The Son is as God is in every way. It is the Son Who holds up the whole world by the power of His Word. The Son gave His own life so we could be clean from all sin. After He had done that, He sat down on the right side of God in heaven.”

It’s easy to get consumed in the moment when we’re facing new trials, fears, or failures. It is easy to lose sight of God’s plan for our lives. We respond to God wanting our attention with, “Jesus, I am a little busy! Can’t you see I’ve got a few things going on right now?” We dismiss the same God that sacrificed his Son for us with, “I’ll get back to you!”
When I was working with World Vision, I heard about a situation they encountered when extracting children involved in the human trafficking/sex slavery industry. Unfortunately, it is a devastating yet common issue many impoverished families face. For example, one dad who had had eight children was offered to sell his youngest daughter to a brothel for $1000. For reference, this was equivalent to a year’s worth of earnings that would enable him to save his remaining children. He was faced with an impossible decision: to sacrifice one child and save the other seven, or to deny the offer only to see all eight of his children die. I don’t know what it means to sacrifice a child. I can’t imagine the terror and trauma. Yet, this is the decision God faced when he chose to sacrifice His son for our salvation.
