Gatekeeper

John 14:6 (NIV)

Book Audio Coming Soon!

I always want to know what’s next, what’s around the corner, and what to expect. In today’s world of technology, we know exactly where we are at any given moment. We can wave to each other from anywhere in the world. However, there is a significant difference between knowing where we are and knowing where we’re going. A few years ago, my son was traveling in Malawi in areas so remote that he was the first Caucasian that the children of several villages had ever seen. I had given him a satellite phone to be able to reach help just in case the need arose. One day, my cell rang and it was my son, announcing that he had three bars on his cell phone and wanted to call just to say hello! Who would think that out there in the jungles of Malawi, my son would have the ability to talk to me as if he was down the street! Jesus makes it abundantly clear in the Bible that we don’t see an exact roadmap for our lives until we look back from the finish line. It is hard to reckon with the fact that we don’t get access to this information when we are so used to access to infinite amounts of information at our fingertips and communicating with each other from anywhere in the world. However, life is about trusting and having faith in God as our gatekeeper to the unknown. I trust in faith that Jesus will reveal the path I’m supposed to follow day by day. I am comforted by faith that if I submit to Him, He will lead me exactly where I need to go. His way is the only way.
