We all need encouragers in our journey—people who breathe inspiration, motivation, and resilience into our lives. Life is simply overwhelming without the positive influence of others. God did not create us to live alone by depending solely on grit and self-preservation. He certainly did not design us to forge through life without Him.
In addition to Christ, the Bible is filled with stories of encouragers. Joseph, named Barnabas by the apostles, was the quintessential encourager. He was consistent, focused on others first, and always looking to lift people up. Paul’s entire ministry also concentrated on helping others improve. Christ himself implemented a model of encouragement that focuses on improving the lives of others.
Jesus is the deliverer of encouragement. He doesn’t take the easy route by avoiding our troubles, but He rushes right in and helps us when needed. Jesus is always ready to aid us in our hardships. Surround yourself with people like Barnabas and Paul and Jesus. Purge the defeatists who only serve as anchors around your ankles when in the deep waters of trial. Most importantly, travel with Jesus at your side; he will always carry your burdens.
