Why should I have faith? “I am empowered, commissioned by Christ Himself to defeat Satan in this world.” These are mighty words to receive from God, but He does not extend them as a suggestion. Jesus does not define our purpose coupled with the disqualifiers of ‘if you have time,’ or ‘if you feel up to it!’ He looks us
directly in the eye, no differently than a parent or commanding officer, and says, ‘Go! This is your why!’
I have been asked to fight, overcome, endure, succeed in humility, and fail with honor. With any of these calls to action, I wasn’t asked if I thought they were a good idea. I wasn’t asked if I could manage the task or if I could assure victory. Instead, my name was called to perform at my highest and best. My response was, “Send me in!”
God’s commands are not subject to committee or review, so our why needs to be understood entirely. We must live on the ready alert to respond whenever He calls us in. Friedrich Nietzsche said, “He who has a why to live for can bear almost any how.” The present moment is our time to step forward in response to God’s plan, fully practiced and prepared.
