Getting frozen about what to do or how to proceed is all too easy! These self- imposed blockades hinder our progress. Commonly nicknamed the “Analysis Paralysis” syndrome, we freeze up when confronted with too much data and too much study to the point where all progress is halted. Instead of freezing up, God tells us how to manage our choices and avoid getting caught in overthinking.
Choices are either made proactively or they are pain-induced. The latter is where a decision is rendered simply as a means of pain management. Christian author John Maxwell says, “Life is a matter of choices, and every choice you make makes you.” He also says, “A man must be big enough to admit his mistakes, smart enough to profit from them, and strong enough to correct them.”
God gives us two brief commands that allow us to make better choices when facing the unknown: First, in Proverbs 3:6 he tells us to “seek His will in all that we do,” and secondly, in Philippians 3:14 he directs us to “press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” Ask for His blessing, then act out of confidence in the gift about to unfold.
