In desperation, there are times when I cry out to Jesus and it seems as if I’m met with deafening silence. I hear crickets in a moment of critical need or want. Butin those moments, I have the realization that I was missing it. God is not silent; I am just missing His voice. In those moments, I realize what I need to do to start hearing Him. It is overwhelming if you’re like me and have experienced the same “God, where are You?” moments. I have even elevated my plea to ask for an undeniable sign; a burning bush, a thundering voice, or a giant roadside billboard that commands me what to do. However, God speaks clearly and coherently, most often quietly. We must realize God never ignores us. He’s always trying to get our attention and is focused on His most significant treasures: His sons and daughters. Choose to listen to Him through His word, other people, and His presence through nature. Sense His promptings in your dreams and visions. Get quiet to hear His whispers; listen for his voice in your thoughts. He’s always clear and coherent if we allow ourselves to listen appropriately.
