In Christ, He changes our identity to be forgiven. Reflect on the weight you still carry for some of your past decisions in life, even though you received a pardon. Although the jail is unlocked, the door is wide open, and the guards are waving you to step out, you still feel disappointment and regret. However, the instant you accepted Christ, you were free. Our mistakes do not define us. When we are compromised, defeated, or succumb to temptations, poor decisions and choices lead to temptation and condemnation. We cannot allow the world to label us with our mistakes. All of those are in the past. We must willfully, definitively, and proactively let all these failures go. God does not judge us by our mistakes. Conversely, He defines our character by what we do after we fail. Do we blame, ignore, and deny our shortcomings, or do we own them? We must acknowledge and accept His forgiveness, pledging to learn and improve. The first step necessitates accepting you’re a work in progress and choosing to improve.
