Time is the only part of life that’s guaranteed to run out. Satan successfully wields the sword of procrastination. “I’ll get to You, Jesus, just a minute.” “Jesus, I want to spend more time with You...starting tomorrow.” Most of us aren’t that bold with our words, but that’s what we’re saying when we place Jesus on the shelf until our next need or tragedy. In Zion Canyon there is a place named ‘Weeping Rock,’ a cavern below a massive canyon wall. Lush hanging gardens surround the perpetually wet cavern due to a constant water flow from rainstorms on the bluff 800 feet above it. Science has calculated that it takes 2,000 years for rainwater to seep through the rock until it finally fall from the cavern ceiling to drip gently on my face—rain from when Jesus was alive on earth. Standing there under Weeping Rock reminds me how patient our Jesus is. He never walks away, never shakes his head in disappointment when we extend our hand, gesturing, ‘Jesus, I’ll be right with you.’ Drops of water run down my face like tears, reminding me to spend time with Jesus, who’s always ready, arms extended, prepared for us to soak in His love.
