After you pray for what you want, expectantly praise God for answering your prayer in advance. I like it when I ask specifically, boldly, and thankfully, expecting God to respond. I have spent a lifetime believing that I would not receive what I asked for. Expectation is the foundation of my hope: letting God in on my needs, wants, and desires and expecting His answers. There are additional actions triggered by expectant prayer. The first is assuming the mantle of a prayer warrior. Many people dismiss the role of a warrior with the interpretation that it means physical prowess. But a person doesn’t need the physical presence of an athlete or the physical strength of a warfare combatant to be a warrior. We only need to ask God for His fortitude and conviction to fight and be willing. The second action is becoming a watchman, living with that keen vision to reveal God’s response, knowing where to focus, and looking beyond what others see. Watchmen fill the Old Testament as people surveyed the landscape by looking for threats and opportunities. Humanity is defined by pioneers who scan the horizon, looking for possibilities to better themselves. Prayerfully let God in on your expectations.
