Distraction is a deadly killer. We encounter it daily now with drivers that quickly glance to their smartphones, then look up to face tragedy as their car slams into something, resulting in injury or even death. Distraction from God risks even greater dangers, with Satan looming in the shadows, ready to deliver physical, emotional, and spiritual blows. The stakes are high, and our intimacy with Jesus hinges on our ability to focus on Him. We must redirect our focus on Him to avoid veering off course, leading us toward trials, sin, missed opportunities, and missed blessings. Our distractions have grown exponentially, compromising our attention spans with the unending 15-second blasts of info from social media. “Don’t let the world’s noise keep you from hearing the voice of the Lord.” This statement explicitly instructs us, reminding us to refocus. Scripture directs us to be still, quiet our minds, and purposefully remove ourselves from the chaos surrounding us. Jesus modeled this to hear God and remain on course. Be just as deliberate in removing distractions to sense His presence.
