As he spoke, the Spirit came into me and raised me to my feet, and I heard him speaking to me. It happens so many times when we receive an impression from the spirit. A scripture can leap off the page, or a lyric, sunset, or statement made by someone can trigger a thought that speaks to our current situation. How can we know if it’s the Holy Spirit prompting us? Part of recognizing the Holy Spirit comes from inviting this way for God to speak to us. The more we open up to God speaking to us in all forms, the more we can raise our sensitivity to these impressions. As you ask God to speak, you will recognize more ideas or directions without conscious thought or effort. It’s the Holy Spirit confirming, “I’m right here.”
