What Am I Running From?

Romans 8:35, 38-39 (GW)
“What will separate us from the love Christ has for us? Can trouble, distress, persecution, hunger, nakedness, danger, or violent death separate us from his love?...We can’t be separated by death or life, by angels or rulers, by anything in the present or anything in the future.”

How does fear trick us into agreeing with Satan? Fear forces us to accept something less to avoid what we’re so afraid of. We often accept loss or injury, ill-treatment or judgment, abuse or bullying because it we are trying to avoid something else we fear more. But God has more for us. We can’t negotiate with Satan, but our imagination and fear of the unknown are fueled by evil to the point where we accept his schemes. What’s perceived as damage control has us accept far less than the abundance God designed for our lives. We justify all kinds of the self-imposed limitations. Our Jesus wants more for us! Constantly encouraging us to “fear not,” “trust me,” and “walk this way,” he gives us commands that are subjected to an endless menu of phobias, like atelophobia, the fear of imperfection, thanatophobia, the fear of losing love, or philophobia, the fear of falling in love. There are an infinite number of reasons not to step forward. To overcome these fears, place your hand in Jesus’s.
