There’s nowhere to hide. Emotions flood your mind—worry, anger, and stress— in images that flash back, and you want it to stop, even if just for a moment. And yet, your mind is filled like a tide slowly rising. It’s a rise that never stops, constantly eroding the time that separates you from the pain.
Trauma can manifest itself in several ways by interrupting sleep patterns; including flashbacks, nightmares, and severe anxiety, as well as uncontrollable thoughts about what has happened. Eventually, the weight can become extremely heavy. Suicide may seem to be the most logical step to end the hurting. Especially for with those diagnosed with PTSD, nearly a third of impacted people attempt suicide—a much more significant percentage of people who have undiagnosed PTSD consider taking their lives.
Even though it seems like a simple answer, God makes it possible to overcome damage caused by trauma. This series focuses on how you can discover relief and build a bridge back to a place that’s safe, calm, restful, and free from haunting memories. This series will detail what to focus on instead, and what I have found to help navigate the challenges of working through trauma.
